Speed Date My Hero–Cord Archer from CRADLE OF LIES

by Em Petrova

*Welcome, Cord. You’re lookin’ mighty fine today. I can’t wait to stare at you–I mean hear what you have to say. Let’s dig in!*

1) What do you do for work? In my twenties I was pretty handy with horses and could make myself useful around a ranch. But certain events occurred and for the last ten years I’ve been a profiler for the FBI.

2) Where are you from? All over. But I guess if I had to, I’d say Cradle Montana’s my home.

3) What is the one thing about yourself that you would like me to know? I like women, but I’m not looking for anything serious so be forewarned.

4) When was your last relationship and how long did it last? Relationship? Women just sort of find me and it lasts for as long as it lasts.

5) Do you want to marry or have you ever been married? No, I’m not interested in marrying and I believe in leaving the past right where it is—in the past. Next question?

6) What do you do for fun? I guess I can kick back and toss a few as well as the next guy but I travel a lot—always leaving on a moment’s notice. Fun
hasn’t really been a priority.

7) What are you most proud of? I’ve put away a lot of real bad guys and helped the FBI redefine their definition of sociopath. When they need someone to get the job done, I’m the guy they go to.

8) Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.

9) What is your most treasured possession and why? I have a black and white photograph of my mother. It’s the only photo I have of her, so I guess you could say I treasure it. The why of it is pretty obvious.

10) What is your favorite music and who is your favorite singer/band? My tastes are eclectic running from classical to country western. Currently DivAria are my favorite classical vocalists. Their album Fresh is a little rough but promising. I also enjoy Keith Urban’s music, especially Days Go By on his Be Here album.

11) Do you like animals/keep pets? Like’ em? Yes, especially horses but my work doesn’t leave me with a lifestyle conducive to having animals around. I’m gone too much for them, or anyone, to depend on me.

12) How do you spend your spare time? I read. Always have several books going at one time. And I like to smile at pretty women. … like you

13) Where do you see yourself in five years time? Somewhere peaceful. Ranching, maybe. With my buddy Shorty.

14) Do you believe a cup is half empty or half full? Well, I guess I’ve seen it both ways at various times in my life, so to me a cup is just a cup… if it’s got water in it and I’m thirsty, I’ll probably drink it and not give a lot of thought about how full it is. Or isn’t.

15) You have got six months to live, what will you do first? Find out the identity of my mother and whether she’s still alive. After that, visit a rancher friend of mine—at least I hope he’s still a friend. See if I can talk him into riding one of his horses. A sweet filly, Diva. I guess I’d spend my days on the ranch, riding and remembering… better times.

16) Is sexual compatibility important to you? I haven’t met a woman yet who, if the attraction is there, wasn’t sexually compatible.

17) If you won a lottery, how would you spend your millions? Depends on if the State of Montana has executed my daddy yet. If he’s still alive, I’d use it to influence someone into moving up his execution date. If he’s dead, I’d… well, let’s just say my life would be entirely different, regardless of the lottery, if my daddy was dead.

18) If you have friends coming over, what would you cook? You’ve got the wrong guy. I’m all thumbs in the kitchen. I could be convinced to clean things up afterward, though.

19) Describe your perfect vacation. I’d like to take a friend of mine—haven’t seen this friend in a long time—to the ocean. A private atoll with a friend I haven’t seen in… years. No phones. No internet. No clothes. Just the two of us, a boat, and a fridge full of sea bass and scallops.

20) Are you a morning person or a night person? I don’t spend a lot of time sleeping so I guess you could say I’m whatever I have to be to get the job done. It’s all about the job.

*swoons* Are you still talking, sugar? Oh, you’re all finished? Well, thank you for coming by. We’ve loved hearing from you!

Cord sounds intriguing! He surprised me with the daddy bit and I hope he finds his mom! I guess I’d better get the book if I want to spend some more time with him!
