1) What do you do for work?
I am a Senior Chief Gunner’s Mate in the U. S. Navy. As a senior enlisted man I know just about everything there is to know about the job and am expert in the use of many of the Navy’s weapons and weapons systems such as the M500 shotgun, M60 machine gun, M14 rifle, M2 Browning machine gun, M9 pistol, M11 pistol, M16 rifle, M240 machine gun, M203 grenade launcher, M79 grenade launcher, M1911 pistol, M1 Garand, Mk 19 grenade launcher, Mk 18 Mod 0 Carbine Rifle, 5″/54 caliber Mark 45 gun, M242 Bushmaster chain gun, Vertical launching system, Missiles, torpedoes, pyrotechnics, hand grenades, non-lethal weapons, force protection & anti-terrorism, as well as operating shooting ranges, armories, and the storage and issue of ammunition. I am also called upon to instruct both officer and enlisted personnel in the use, maintenance and disposal of various weapons and arms employed by the Navy to complete its mission.

2) Where are you from?
I hail from the small mining town of Birds Gap W. Virginia.

3) What is the one thing about yourself that you would like me to know?
No woman can compete with the sea for my affection. She is my first and last love.

4) When was your last relationship and how long did it last?
If you’re asking about women, I honestly can’t recall. Since joining the Navy at age 16, I’ve only been involved in short term relationships where the woman knew up front that I couldn’t love her more than the sea.

5) Do you want to marry or have you ever been married?
Since I’m a dedicated sea rover, I think I’d be doing a dis-service to any woman I married, so I’m not really looking for that.

6) What do you do for fun?
I sail.

7) What are you most proud of?
The U.S. Navy.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes, I fell in love with the sea the first time I set eyes on her.

9) What is your most treasured possession and why?
My catamaran. That craft allows me to be with the sea whenever I’m not on duty.

10) What is your favorite music and who is your favorite singer/band?
(Hank looks rather sheepish as he replies). I don’t suppose you’ve ever heard of the Irish Rovers? My mom used to listen to them all the time because they reminded her of her childhood home in Donegal. I love the Rovers’ sea chanties. They remind me of mom.

11) Do you like animals/keep pets?
I don’t mind animals, but I don’t have pets for the same reason I don’t keep women. The sea gets all of my attention.

12) How do you spend your spare time?
I sail.

13) Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I’ve given the Navy 18 years so far and hope to give it twenty more. So in five years, I expect to be the senior enlisted man on a US Navy ship of the line.

14) Do you believe a cup is half empty or half full?
Why waste time with a cup. Beer from a bottle is just as good.

15) You have got six months to live, what will you do first?
Sail.

16) Is sexual compatibility important to you?
(Hank chuckles) You’re kidding, right? I’m a man what do you think?

17) If you won a lottery, how would you spend your millions?
On boats and a marina to house them. Any money left would go to Padre Mike for his work with under-privileged kids.

18) If you have friends coming over, what would you cook?
Shellfish and asparagus

19) Describe your perfect vacation.
Barefoot cruise.

20) Are you a morning person or a night person?
I’m on call 24/7.

I started with one (if you don’t count my husband), Senior Chief Hank ‘The Wall’ O’Mara. With a stubborn streak wider than his impressive shoulders, Hank is a sailor’s sailor. His love for the sea is unmatched and unrivaled. Neither he nor I believed at the beginning of his story that he’d give up everything for petite (legally forbidden) and equally stubborn Lt. Bethany Morton. On April 1, 2012, when Off Limits is released, you’ll get to find out whether Hank and I were right (although Off Limits is a romance, so I suspect you already know how it ends). But along the way to that ending you’ll not only experience the ups and downs of Hank and Beth’s relationship, you’ll also meet Chief Joe Hazard (Hank’s best friend since High School), Chaplain Mike Dempsey ( the Navy Chaplain who serves Hank’s current duty station), and Jason Campbell (the troubled teen, who Hank mentors). As I completed Off Limits each of these characters began to demand my attention, so I toyed with some ideas. Joe Hazard wasn’t too much of a challenge, but finding the right match for this sea-going playboy was a lot of fun. Jason needs to mature a bit before I can tell his story. He’s a long way from being ready to fall in love. The greatest challenge among these three is Chaplain Mike. Seriously, I write erotic romance, and Mike is a Chaplain. I almost refused to try telling his story, but he insisted that being a man of the spirit doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy the physical side of his humanity. So I said I’d try. I’m interviewing Mike and following him around, poking my nose into his psyche and his personal business, getting all the material I need for his story. Meanwhile I’m writing Joe’s encounter with a ruler-straight principal. Which brings me back to Hank, here’s blurb (below) and a link to an excerpt of Off Limits.
