To My Readers:This is Koko's first attempt at writing an historical erotic romance and hopefully I've allowed you to escape the doldrums of everyday life with my slice of fiction.

Phillipa Jones worked side by side with her deceased husband to build a shipping business. It’s been years since she’s enjoyed the company of a man, and while it’s a move that could destroy her reputation, Phillipa wants to experience the thrill once more.

Reggie, Viscount Bellomont, is no stranger to the hard work it takes to build and maintain a business. He recognizes that Phillipa is his business rival, and wants to find a way for them to work together verses against one another.

A chance meeting, a case of mistaken identity, and passion unlike any Phillipa has ever experienced will begin a series of events that will change her quandary. What will Reggie do to possess the one woman who proves he has a heart? The Merry Widow takes place during Victorian England when a woman owning a business is frowned upon. Reggie sees qualities in Phillipa that stir him emotionally and physically. Phillipa is a strong woman who would do well in the twenty-first century. Head strong, ambitious, and beautiful, she is more than a match for Reggie. The characters interact well, the setting is charming, and there is just enough drama to add spice to the plot. Koko Brown grabbed my attention from the first sentence, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone begin reading this story while consuming food or drink. I nearly choked with laughter and I knew I wouldn't be putting this story down any time soon.

Ms. Brown delivers a wonderfully written regency romance thanks to her interesting characters and wit that is sure to be a winner among those who enjoy the genre.

Title: The Merry Widow

Heat level: O

Phillipa is lonely and decides to risk it all and hire a “gentleman” friend. After a brief meeting with the town Madam, Phillipa waits for her new friend to arrive. Reggie arrives at Phillipa’s home to talk business but was instead escorted to her bedroom. After a brief encounter both realize they want more but are the costs too high; Reggie is her competition and Phillipa is 10 years his senior. Can Phillipa go against the norm and her own fears to find love again?

The Merry Widow was enjoyable and fun to read. Phillipa was a wonderful character; she had accepted her husband’s death and was determined to move on with her life. She takes control and satisfies her desires. It was so nice to see a strong female character that has a lot of depth and fire within her. Reggie isn’t as strong as Phillip but he is still a strong character. He won’t let tradition keep him from having the woman of his dreams. The characters are very well fleshed out for a short book. The plot is captivating and fast moving. The Merry Widow kept me entertained and captivated from the first page. It had a satisfying conclusion and was a quick fun story. The sex is hot! Wonderful oral and public sex will make your eye balls melt with desire.

Historical romance

… Phillipa was a wealth widow. She did not lack for suitors, whether she was interested or not. She desired male companionship but not marriage; hence she turned to Madame Valant for assistance. When Reggie arrived at her door, she mistook him for one of the Madame’s stallions.

Merry Widow is an entertaining tale. Phillipa was definitely not your typical Victorian female. Reggie and Phillipa work well together. Koko Brown has mixed humor and historical romance to create a delightful read.

In THE MERRY WIDOW, Koko Brown writes a short, hot, historical story that is sure to titillate most readers. Mrs. Phillipa Jones is a widow running her late husband's shipping company in late 20th century England. It has not always been the easiest thing to do, but she has managed admirably since his death. She has competition from a lot of quarters, but Lord Bellomont has been hounding the company's doors trying to discuss business with her for weeks. She has politely rebuffed his business advances, but he has been doggedly persistent.

On a personal level, Phillipa has been lonely. Risking her reputation, but not knowing where else to turn, she procures the services of a male companion. The relationship is not necessarily sexual, she just wants some companionship. In a case of mistaken identity, Reggie, Lord Bellomont finds himself being escorted into Phillipa's parlor. These two find the sparks ignite immediately, but there are so many obstacles to overcome. Phillipa is looking for a paramour, not a husband and definitely not a hired lover. Add to that, Reggie is so young, it looks like she is robbing the cradle. Reggie, for his part, is a rake through and through. With this case of mistaken identity and a relationship based on subterfuge, he does not know how to make it right. These two lovers have their work cut out for them.

I enjoyed reading Phillipa and Reggie's story. Like most Red Sage books, this is a short story and over quite quickly. It is well written, the characters well fleshed out for 50 pages, and an interesting story, but like any book written in this limited space, some development is sacrificed. If you like the short stories, then this book is perfect to pick up. Personally, I like them longer and think Ms. Koko could expand this story into a full length book with no difficulty. Take pleasure in this book for what it is, for it was enjoyable. Rating 4
